English 10 Honors
A study of world literature, preparing you for AP level English
Monday: Turn in any late work, including your work on "How to Read a Book." Take a page (front side only) of video notes on "The Hero's Journey" and the first half of "Introduction to the Epic." Save your notes to finish tomorrow. If you were absent, write two paragraphs explaining how the epic so far matches the hero's journey. Homework: Identify mistakes using the Grademark & Originality reports on Turnitin.com. Fix all of them in the original essay. Resubmit before midnight.
Tuesday: Finish the video & the notes. Do the Preview Project with a partner. One copy is fine for both of you. We'll project random papers. Turn it in by the end of the period. Absent? Do the project by yourself, instead. Wednesday-Friday: No Independent Reading Day this week, but continue reading at home. Read 1/3 of The Epic of Gilgamesh each day. Do the chapter questions for each section. Homework: correct your answers in a different color using the Answer Keys. Due beginning of class the following day. Friday: Turn in Vocab #21-30.

Do all of the questions for "How to Read a Book," including the Writing & Networking. When it asks you to annotate the photocopy, just write what you would have annotated on a separate sheet of paper. Do NOT write a whole process essay, just a paragraph. To show me the Networking, print out the page you annotated electronically.
If you were absent Thursday or did not do Wednesday's homework on time, write two paragraphs summarizing the article in addition to the work above to make up participation points. If you were absent on Friday, write two paragraphs comparing & contrasting how you usually highlight & annotate with the way Adler recommends. Homework: Turn in Vocab #11-20 reports on Friday. On Turnitin.com, use the Grademark Report to remove all flagged mistakes from your original Word or Google draft. Use the Originality Report to revise your essay if it's over 20% and then resubmit to Turnitin by Monday night, before midnight. Absent Tuesday?
